Probably have some crud on your VSS after peeling out. Take it out and clean it for starters, or simply replace the $20.00 part.

A flashing OD light means SOMETHING is wrong with the transmission system. It could be the VSS, or it could be about 50 other things.

The only way to know is to have the code read. When the light flashes a code is stored in memory. It will stay in memory even if the light stops flashing.

In my opinion it is a waste of time and money to change parts without knowing what code was set.

Would I be able to use my superchips to check it? The light went off as soon as I started the truck back up later, but I want to check on this for sure.

Thanks Derek

Yes , A Superchips Microtuner Should Be Able To Read Any Code That Has Been Set On Your Truck. There Should Still Be A Readable Code Stored Even Though The Od Light Is No Longer Blinking.

Once apon a time I tried to spin my tires on takeoff, and they didnt spin. LOL! My OD light blinked, untill I restarted it, then I never saw it again. That was over a year ago, so I figured the tranny was telling me dont play with me

i had the exact same problem you did, after doin too many burnouts and doggin it my overdrive light kept flashing on/off and wouldnt go away. it is definately a transmission problem. with mine, 2nd gear was completly ripped out and had to replace the whole tranny! ive learned my lesson since then

I REALLY THINK THAT READING OR CHECKING THE CODES THAT ARE PROBABLE SET OR SHOULD BE IS DEFINETLY A GOOD STARTING POINT TO FIND OUT WHAT MADE YOU OD LIGHT FLASH.

READ THEM OR HAVE THEM READ AND LET US KNOW WHAT YOU COME UP WITH.
THEN SOMEONE COULD MAYBE HELP YOU OUT AND/OR THE REST OF US MAY LEARN SOMETHING FROM YOUR SITUATION.

Superchips programer gave me 5 numbers
p0603
p0478
p0470
p1211
p0782
I think that I may have to call the dealership or a local mech. shop to know what the codes mean, I cant believe that there was 5, unless I dont know how to check them on the superchips.
