94 explorer starting problems, wont start

I have a 94 explorer that seems to have one problem after another. I can never seem to get it into 4X4. It appears to be leaking radiator coolant. And the Biggest problem of all is that just this morning on my way to work, it wouldn't start period. When I turn the key, I get a dut dut dut noise and nothing, but when I use jumpers cables and another car I get the dut dut dut and then it'll start. I put in a brand new battery today and the same problem, so it's apparently not the battery, what is it?

Check your battery cables, they may need to be replaced. Try cleaning them first with a wire brush or a battery post brush from a parts store. Once they're clean, use dielectric grease or vaseline to protect the contacts from corrosion again.

The new battery may have been sitting around for a while and may not have had a good charge. Once the posts are clean, let the car run for a bit to get a decent charge.

Is the four wheel drive the push button style mounted on dash. The vehicle must be either in neutral or park for the transfer case to engage.
