I found a good deal in the local swap sheet. I guy has a set of new ford rims and tires for a reasonable price. Before I drive an hour away to take a look at them can anyone tell me........
Will the 16" rims and tires fit on my Ranger 1993 2wd? Will there be enough clearence with out lifting it or should I bag the idea and try to look for 15" wheels?
Thanks in advance, if they won't fit I hope one of you rangerites can clue me in and save me the drive
I've seen 20s on a ranger. It all has to do with the bolt pattern. I think the bolt pattern is like 5x114.5 or something like that. I think a set of 18s are in store for mine.
A little off topic here, although I too want to up size to maybe a 16" set when the stockers wear out, but i couldn't help noticing your quote below;
"fords rule, but damit what where they thinking when they made the 3.0 ranger? "
Mine is a 2003 2WD 3.0, auto with OD, and altough I hear the little mazda motor is "bulletproof" I get really dissapointed when I continually get about 15 mpg city/freeway, and maybe 20+ on a trip IF I keep it below 70! I have installed a K/N filter and my own low flow exhast system creation, after the stock cat converter, with some horsepower improvement, and great sound, but still have the same lousy gas mileage!!
Is this one of your dissapoinments too?
(Please forgive me, for jumping off topic, but the last time i was on here was last march, and I havn't kept up with the posts.)
I would say that would be a dissapointment. My buddy has the 3.0 with an auto, and we did a little bit of drag racing. (Iknow its the 3.0 v the 2.5) I have the 5spd and he couldn't beat me. Maybe he was trying to shift himself and screwed things up. For the size of the motor, you should get alot better mpg.
Ouch! Either your truck must run pretty strong or his is not running so good! Or as you say, maybe he did try to shift himself and got his timing wrong. Or..... the 3.0 just plain sucks!
I don't have any comparison races, to similar trucks anyway, but my truck does seem to get and go pretty darn well. I did several 0 to 60 runs a while back, and I seem to recall them being in the 11 second range. While certainly not "hot car" material, I think it would qualify as "not too shabby" for a little stock truck!
I am considering spending a hundred or two for an engine chip. Supposedly another 10 or 15 HP, which you would think would turn into MPG as long as one keeps his foot out of it, but probably not!
I may be wrong, but i think mine shifts at about 6,000 with my foot to the floor. It has some kind of "learning program" in the tranny that senses how you are driving and adjusts for economy, (yeah right!) or speed. In any case, with my k&n, and 2 1/4" home made, exhaust with some kind of pep boys "hot shot" muffler, it does sound great, as you were just saying to a new guy on another thread.
I love the way it shifts, it seems to be at just the right time. There should be no need to try to manually shift it. (IMHO) And I am an old ex motorcycle maniac!
Anyway, good chatin' whicha! Sounds like there's a bunch-a "good ol' boys" here who like there "good ol" "American" Fords!
