Hi Ford Lovers,
I just purchased a 73 Ford F-350 Camper Special Extra long wheel base with a 390, 2 wheel drive, 65000 original miles, 33/12.50 in the back and P235's in the front on polish weld wheels, all new glass and all new interior. I just had a 400 hp 390 built for it and I am installing it as we speak. It is an original a/c truck, but the compressor and brackets are missing! I can not find the brackets anywhere and I don't even know what I should be looking for. Freakazoid had a post about these brackets with pics. Any help with my problem would be very helpful. I would like to have a/c to go with my brand new interior.
Thanks
I would suggest you visit the junkyard and look for a truck set up with air conditioning. That way you get to look at all the whole setup and buy as necessary.
From what I've seen, there are a few different setups for the air conditioning. There is the factory setup, a dealer installed setup, and one you could buy at Montgomery Wards. As far as I've seen, all three have different ways of mounting the compressor.
IIRC, the factory ones I've seen at the junkyard have the compressor mounted vertically above the power steering pump with a tensioner above the water pump.
If you're really desparate I could give you the name of the junkyard.
i have a 1974 f250 that i have just installed ac brackets onto. on this set up i have two brackets and one support bar. one braket bolts to the engine just above thep/s pump. it is flat across the top with four mounting holes. the other bracket bolts to the water pump. the bar bolts to the head and runs up to the comp. the comp is a york type. i am going to see if i can find a dic, camera i can use to take some pics to down load, let me know if it may help to see a picture.
Thank you for the replies,Pics would be perfect, then I would know what I am looking for.Let me know the parts you have for sale. I want it to be a clean factory looking install,so when the hood goes up it looks clean.hook me up,thanks.
