While working under the hood with the key on I noticed the wastegate (sending unit)? is always on. A steady click or buzzing sound. Is this normal. Can I just unplug the wire to this as I have the red hose unplugged anyway. Thanks I have got a ton of info from this site.
Can't say as I've heard any noise from the controller before.
Unplugging it will probably set an error code in the PCM, but it shouldn't affect the performance.....unless the compuer adjusts the fuel schedule down using an assumed value for the inlet pressure. Hmmm, I guess I'm answering your question with a solid "I don't know".
Well...........
My experience with IAC motors on VW's is that they hum all the time with the ignition on. It's reacting to the signal from the ECU. Normal operation.
Translating that to the PSD wastegate controller: they are similar in design in that they control the amount of air going through the valve. I don't know if it would effect the fuel map if completely disconnected.
Thanks I guess I will just leave it plugged in and not worry about it. It runs like a champ so leave well enough alone. I am amazed at the power whenever I get a chance to run it without the horse trailer hooked up! Stops on a dime too.
