I know I saw a topic on how to pull codes from a Ranger, and I can't seem to locate it. Please direct me to the correct post, or give a quick explaination. Thanks as always, for the help.
Yep, Autozone has the OBD scanner you'll need. Make sure you talk to someone that knows what they're talking ab when you want parts. I went through a new EGR, a new EGR vacuum valve, and an IAC before I finally figured out the problem on my own. That put me at $140 worth of parts that they suggested before I figured it out myself.
I cheaped out. Removed the battery cable and let the CPU reset. Lights out, trucks running great, now I'll wait to see if was a fluke (I doubt it) or if the light comes back on. Thanks for the info. By the way, how much does an ODB-ll scanner cost? Can it be used on the 2002 Escape?
It'll prolly come on again. It may have just been a single event the engine noted and popped on. If (when?) it happens again, it'll pop the code and you can have it checked.

You can get an Actron OBD-II code reader from PepBoys for around $80.
Yes it will work on the '02 Escape as well as pretty much all OBD-II Ford, Chevy, and Dodge vehicles, for that matter.
As always, thanks for the info Rockledge. BTW, I installed manual hubs (auto locker issues last year) and it is the way to. $231.00 for the hub, spindle nut kit and socket to do it all. I haven't noticed an improvment in gas mileage, but I did notice an overall 4x4 performance. Now when it is in 4x4 mode, it is really in 4x4.
Again, thanks for the info.
