Pollack/Ford connect

Last summer while towing my equipment trailer I kept losing trailer brakes. At my destination,a truck and equipment repair yard, their electrical guy traced my problem to the factory 7 blade receptical on the rear of my 02 f350.He said some clips had broken off and the plug going into the back side of the receptical had come loose. He used 2 zip ties to wrap around the 2 parts and keep them together. This was sucessful but now I need to fix it right. What I want to know is where were the clips? The connector plug with the wires says ford in an oval and pollack across from that.It is hard to tell what I am looking at as it is dark and rainy after work and I am lying in the mud looking up at it.Can I just buy the receptical with the flap door and plug the ford pigtail into the back of it?This piece with the spring loaded flap also has a flat 4 pole recep alongside it.Pleae give advice before I call the Ford dealer.I find it's good to have some knowledge before they sell you something....Thanks, GB

Can't offer much advise, but I know that a few Ford components are manufactured by Pollack. Sensors, brake switches and such. My Explorer had a Pollack switch on the brake pedal that controlled the cruise disconnect and all three brake lights.

Yes, you can buy a replacement connector. The Pollak no. is 11-893. It's the OEM replacement for your application and will only be missing the Ford logo.

You can also get the connector at many auto parts stores and Wal-Mart and just take a little time at the bench to wire everything up and you'd be set. The only thing I see beneficial to the ford/pollak no. is having the side 4flat connector, but if you don't use it, then it wouldn't matter much anyway.

The Pollak 11-893 is just the 7-pole connector and does not include the plate and 4-wire connector. The benefit of it is you remove 4 screws and the old connector, shove in the new connector, replace the screws, and plug the factory harness connector into it. It eliminates messing with wire splicing.

I was presuming he had no problems with the 4-wire connector....why replace both?
