High everyone, I have a 79 F150 2 wheel drive that my wife and I use at the local racetrack in the tough truck racing and I want to pull the worn out 351M and replace it with a 302. My question is will the 302 mounts work with the 351M frame perchs or do I need to fabricate something to work. Since this truck is for offroad use only and gets major abuse I am not afraid to modify it but would like to retain the rubber mounts to have some give on the landings. I already have a small block C6 to go with it and I am hoping not to have to modify the driveshaft. Yes my wife really does drive it and gives it all it has but the 351M is worn out and I want to shave some more weight off the frontend too. Thanks in advance Greg NE
Kingfisher, pretty much anything goes. There is even on guy that was using a 2wd blazer and after he couldn't catch my wife in the points race and bent the Chevy's tinfoil frame, he brought it back the next year with a 3/4 ton Ford 2wd frame under the Chevy body and motor . Saw that the ford frame with the twin I beams would take just about anything. By the way the year the wife won the points title in the big truck class I was healing up from my accident and wasn't running, now I run a 83 4 by 4 Ranger in the small truck class so we can both race but not against each other- keeps peace in the house . This is pretty grass roots racing but we have been having fun for 5 years now. Greg NE
