My buddy has a '78 Bronco with a 351M, T-18, NP208 and 9 inch rear. The truck has several inches of body and suspension lift and sits on 38.5" Ground Hawgs..
He broke his rear driveshaft. A u-joint failed and it cracked the ears of the shaft. His shaft has a CV joint/spacer. We are having a hell of a time finding a new shaft, especially one with a Cv joint. We would settle for a shaft without a CV joint just to get the thing togehter and see how it works if we use some good beefy u-joints.
Total shaft length is ~41", driveshaft without CV joint length is ~38". What vehicles can we get a shaft frmo that will interchange? Preferably with a CV joint. Is there anything available in the aftermarket for a rear shaft? Anyone you would recommend to make a custom shaft if need be?
I needed a shaft for a 79 stock bronco. I had a shaft from a truck and measure the length I need for my bronco. Local transmision and drive train shop shortened it for $80.
