Steel,
The fuel gauage in my truck isn't accurate either. Unfortunately, I can't tell you how to fix it but I just use my trip meter and when I put 300 miles on it I fill up. With my 29 gallon tank it ususally takes around 20 gallons. I found out about my gauge when I ran out of fuel and the gauge still said 1/4 of a tank. It was Christmas time and about 20 degree's outside. Pretty cold for Oklahoma! Not a fun time to run out of fuel.

Good Luck!!!
Paul

Welcome to Ford Truck Enthusiasts coldsteel5.

If you disconnect the fuel level sending unit at the tank does the gauge drop to zero?

The sending unit is in the fuel tank. Wires are connected at the top of the tank.

Okay thanks...So if the gage drops to "E" when I disconnect it. Is it worth the cost to change this part?

Senders for the diesel aren't cheap: $250.00+ depending on the type of tank you have.

Thanks

I will just use Trip meter. This sounds like the best method thanks to all for the help.
