vss question
1993 7.3 F350 4X4 w/ an e40d
I replaced the vss on the rear axle housing, the speedo works almost perfect know, except it seems to fluctuate just a little bit, about 1-2 mph when im cruising. It jumps back and forth just a little, is this something I can contribute to mechanical inconstancies in the speedo housing itself, or is it something that might be related to the pickup in the housing? <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com

The VSS should send a steady input to the speedo and PCM or you will get gear changes. I would pull the VSS and check it out............
VSS ohms must be between 900-2500 measured between the terminals.
Are you getting any codes set for the trans problem, go to Azone for them to pull codes..........if you get a 29 code that is VSS insufficient info to PCM.
