Installing a vacuum gauge
If I wanted to install something similar on my V10, where would I put it?
I would also like to do this to determine if there really is any restrictions in the factory intake snorkel. I guess I would need to install one after the filter and as close to the throttle body as possible, right?
What readings would I look for?
Being a vacuum salesman you would think that I would know this...

Still doesn't really help me with determining proper readings, though.
Anyone got input?

There is manifold vacuum, and venturi vacuum. We have EFI so the venturi vacuum doesn't count since we have no carb. But it is vacuum guys discuss sometimes when timing their engines since venturi vacuum is zero at idle (a valve closes the line). You'll want to use manifold vacuum directly off the intake manifold.
I had a couple old Ramblers as a kid with manifold gauges for gas mileage. They said "poor, good & best", but no actual readings.

Be sure and let us know how this one goes. This seems like something cool to have, not to mention gauges that actually move are more fun to have.
And the gas gauge doesn't count, that one seems to only one move in one direction, south...Anyways, I'm curious to see where you tap into it, where you mount the gauge, and also what type of gauge you get (autometer?). Good luck!

I don't want it for economy. I want to see if the intake really IS restrictive or not.
I want to tap into the snorkel (see Gale Bank's thoughts on performance intakes et al.) for starters. However, I do not know what numbers I'd be looking at.
If I keep it, THEN I'll tap into the manifold and leave it there...just for fun.

I think I'm gonna get the dash panel guage "pod". I'd like to have extra gauges down where the rest of the instruments are. Tranny temp first, the second one may well end up being this vacuum gauge because like 2000silverbullet says "gauges that actually move are more fun to have."
