Any Idea When Ceramic Brakes Will Be Available For The 04 Lariat?
I've Had Enough Brake Dust.
Brake Dust Sucks.
By The Way-this Is My First Post Here-but Been A Ford Guy For Over 40 Years.
Lemmeno=thanks.
I put Akebono ceramic brake pads on my 04 FX4, 6 months ago- no dust, works better than OEM. Best thing I've done to my truck since new. Couldn't stand the tons of black/brown dust on my wheels. Dealer told me to get lost when I complained about it. They have been available for quite awhile, bought mine at tirerack. Good people to deal with.
i've been to napa-auto zone and everywhere else.
no dice
i've got to figure that a ceramic pad is a ceramic pad for a 2004 ford f-150,whatever the make or body stlye is.
again-mine is a 04 f-150 lariat 4x4.
please help me a bit here.
this brake dust is driving me crazy!!
akebono-here i come.
I put ceramic pads on my 04 f-150 fx4 a few months back, I bought them at Napa. they had them in stock the day I stopped by. There are two different sets of pads. one set is about $75 the other is about $95 as best as I can remember. The $95 set which fit my truck is for the early production trucks, you need to take your vin # to determine which set you need.
I love the ceramic pads, No noise, Very little dust !!
"artichead" I put NAPA ceramic pads on my 04 months ago..Advanced Auto parts also had them. Advanced was cheaper, but about 5mm less pad thickness. NAPa was about same thickness as Ford original..Apparently your NAPA don't know what they are talking about. I am sure I still have the NAPA box with p/n on it, I will dig it out today and post the p/n for you..But, like Henson said you need the VIN to get correct pads..

QUOTE]TC=PLEASE HOOK ME UP WITH THE PART NUMBER.
I'D BE GRATEFUL.
Nah...not too hard. Remove wheel, 2 bolts to remove the caliper, get the pads out, push the pistons back in (using the old pad and a C-clamp) reinstall.
"articahead" did not forget you on the part #...But, did you ever put something away and now can't find it?? This is my problem now, will look again today..Let you know either way.. TC Parry
"articahead" Well I found the brake pad box (really it was the wife found it) The NAPA p/n is CMX-7915, The brand name is "Ceramix"..This is the part # you need if the 11th digit in your vin is (N), if yours is not (N) you will have to ask them for your correct p/n.. The only reason you really need the vin is to obtain the 11th digit..My experience with these pads is this, Love them, at 1st the braking seemed spongy, but came back to normal after a few hundred miles (perhaps because i also put on new rotors).. No noise, very little dust which cleans off very easy, the dust is no where near what the original pads made. The rotors are not wearing as they did with orig. pads, in fact they still look brand new.. TC Parry
For some reason this link even though copied from Tire Rack goes to the Ford truck Enthusists site. Cut and paste into your browser and it will work then.
