Chrome Door Handles

I am in desperate need of some chrome on my truck. I have been thinking about getting chrome door handles for a while now but I can't decide going with the tape over or replacement handles.

Has anybody worked with either? I am a little sceptical about the tape over but am not sure.

Thanks for all the help.

go all out and replace them! tape overs are never very good. if you live in a snowy region they wont last nearly as long.

plus when you pull up to someone with the tape overs wouldnt you like to show him up by saying yours are all chrome!

I know how you feel. I felt the same way before I orderd the handles but what I found is that handle covers look and feel like the real thing when installed. No hassle with installation. No taking the doors/handles apart. Simply peel and stick. I have the Putco chrome door handle covers and tailgate cover. $40 at realtruck(dot)com

I've got the Putco's as well and you can't tell a difference at all and the 3M tape is very strong and if they ever do come off they're cheap to just get another one and throw it on....you'd be pretty upset if your real chrome handles got scratched up but it wouldn't bother you too much if they were the stick ons...I've also got the mirror covers which makes a pretty big difference as far as appearance is concerned.

Just a thought - Got some Stainless Steel 3m stick - on
handle trim and buckets fron this guy on ebay - installed
just the door and tailgate handles and not the buckets.

Wasn't expecting much but impressed with the quality.
Solid Stainless Steel fit perfectly and polish up nicely.
Not chrome but look factory, very sharp and professional.
Installed in minutes and you cannot beat the price.

I've heard the chrome plated ABS plastic tend to peel
off eventually, you may want to consider Stainless.

JMHO, Good luck - Ron

Those look good, too. Putco's automotive grade ABS chrome is a long lasting material designed to withstand the rigors of the elements. The chrome finish matches the OEM chrome perfectly.

Forget about PUTCO's go here, you can get the door handle bezels painted to match your truck color, in which you can get a chrome handle with painted bezel or handle and bezel to match the truck color. I was quoted for a 4 door the following, 4 chrome door handles with painted bezels = $130, both handle and bezel painted $140. He also has the tailgate handles with the same configuration.

Get the real thing!

Those look nice. Did you get those handles, or did you just get a quote? I've had a bad experience getting painted parts from the internet. See my other post about the ram air hood. Other than the painted option, those are the same as Putco.

If ordered painted, you have to supply the factory paint code. My ARE fiberglass bed cover matches my truck exactly.

Man the painted with chrome looks nice! I wonder how the paint on the actual handle would hold up though.

I have seen quit a few with the chrome bezel, I personally think it looks like an add on and sticks out like a sore thumb! I like the look of the Lincoln Mark LT, color keyd bezels with chrome handles.
