Holiday Progress???

Well, here it is, Monday.....agh!

Whats the latest? I know we all set off into the big weekend with major plans for getting stuff done. How did it go?

I for one managed a little, After returning home from the "First Annual Navajo Lake Friends & Family Feast and Beer Bash Thanksgiving Extravaganza" camping trip I managed to get a whole bunch of parts loaded up on a trailer in preparation to deliver them to a fellow FTE'er.

Thanks
Bobby

I almost completely replaced the wiring harness on the old boy. In the process I found out that I probably need a new wiper motor which kind of bummed me out. The wires were so old that just touching them caused them to fracture and all the insulation fell off. Oh well one step forward two steps back.

Well my Holiday time off had the best of intenisions, But my wife had other plans.. so..... I painted the bed room and put a new floor in the bathroom, and of course spent half the day Fri moving a foot and a half of SNOW that just happen to fall in my drivway. Now shes happy and the whole X-mas vac (1 week) is mine for the truck stuff except for the actual x-mas day..
Oh well small price to pay.. gotta keep her Happy

I jumped into more body mods. I'm refining the way the running boards meet the rear fenders. Got the driver side done. Pic attached.

I removed 1/2 of the front leaf spring leafs and installed the plastic strips between the leafs, that truck rides so well now it's like a totally different truck. I can't wait till Christmas week to install an S-10 T5 5 speed, and a 9" rearend with 3.23 gears behind me Flathead 226. And of course give the rear leaf springs the same treatment as the fronts. I anyone has any intrest in the T5 install let me know and I will put together a tech article.

Carl,

How'd you fix that door? tie a piece of bailing wire to it and run it up to the drivers side dash?? (manual control) Hahahahaha
Just kidding, I feel for you, those can be a real pain.

Looks good.

Well, I managed to stuff myself with good food all week. I went and looked at a few old cars and trucks that were for sale. I finally dropped my tranny and will hopefully tear it apart this week or weekend. So I guess it was successful.

well , with all the other stuff i had to do like rebuild the rear end and do rear brakes on my older sister's car, go get a dryer for my mom and put it in, help my little sister's dump husband fix the wood floor he tryed to put in.see why my 86 ranger lost a cylinder ( found out after 375,000 miles a exhaust valve burned ). i still had time to get the cab off of my 49 and get it on a trailer and cover it up and put in in the lower field. you can see the rigg i made in my gallery from the picture's i took with my new camera that i had time to get friday on my way back from northern tool's big sale were i bought 2 set's of wheel dolly's.they worked great too,(as i have no help with anything I have to do.) made it real easy to get the frame out of the way so i could get the trailer under the cab. well you had to ask and i never typed this much in all my post's together.hope all had a good thanksgiving.

We had a cold snap, so it was too cold to work outside I did finish the 1/4"-ft architectural model of our house and garage on our property so I could better visualize the grading and what the whole lot is going to look like when finished. I'm glad I decided to put the garage towards the rear of the lot and at an angle to the street otherwise it could have overshadowed the house. Even built a scale enclosed car trailer.

I got very little done that was planned - between the weather, family (82 year old mother is learning the internet!) and spouting off in an EFI thread I got nothing done on the welding article, nor on my engine swap.

Ever notice how as you get older a one track mind gets worse? Let me get this EFI stuff out of my head and onto paper and then I will finish the gas welding part. Maybe next week.

As to the engine swap - I only work on nice days so it may be awhile. Beside that, I am documenting all the EFI stuff I take off so I will know what I didn't install. Did you guys know they even monitor the pressure of the power steering lines? Talk about a complex wiring job!
