Emissions laws in Europe are more stringent then US lows, Mercedes exports cars and vans (Dodge Sprinter) in the USA with Euro-III engines, but in Europe it makes Euro-IV Engines only... Ford Mondeo (Mercury Mystiq in the USA) and Focus are Euro-IV too. For example, this low requires to use electronically controlled throutle, Coils-on-plugs, catalistic converter in ex.manyfold, oxy sensor before converter and additional oxy and CxHx sensor after converter for converter quality on bord test...All the diesels mast be common rail electronically controlled motors... Thats why european versions of cars are $1000 more expensive...

ah, no, The Tempo/Topaz has the 2.3L High Swirl Combustion chamber (OHV) I4 where the Aerostar/Ranger/Bronco II/Mustang SVT/T-Bird TC had the 2.3L SOHC I4.

Aerostar is desighned such, that it is not a big problem to install there different engines. 3.8L V6 of Thunderbird with AOD was installed there by one gue in Moscow.
I am sorry, but I don't believe it. The 3.8L Essex engine is a 90 degree engine. Without some major modification to the sides of the Aero, I don't see how it would fit when there is barely any room on the sides (fenders) of the 60 degree engines.

Also in the US sense '96 there has been an O2 before the cats and one after the cats (or should I say pre-cat and cat.)
