Severe electrical problems!!
My 99 expy is having a major problem. When I turn the headlights on everythings fine. When I turn the **** down to parking lights, everythings fine.
But when I turn the **** to the "off" position, all the interior light come on, the running board lights come on, and the "door ajar" indicator on the dash comes on.
Please help, this is very bad, and I have simply disconnected the negative at this point until I can fix whatever's wrong.

It seems like your switch has decided to break and become possessed. 
You may want to start by replacing the headlight switch. That switch controls all of the things you described except the door ajar light. If the switch has something shorted, it may also cause the door ajar light to illuminate.

had same prob w/ 00' expy. had nothing 2 do w/ lights but w/ switch in the door being stuck,thats where ur "door ajar" is coming from. so try this... open the door and find a round rubber plug somewhere by the latch. spay some wd40 there and on the latch while ur there. this worked 4 me and another i know that had same prob. good luck
