84 F150 info needed
I'm looking at an 84 F150 for a second truck, but I need some info, like how to tell what engine it has in it, the tranny, and any problem areas on such a truck. I'm going on tuesday to look at it, and check out alot of it, before I set anything on it in stone.

The VIN will tell you the engine code (eight digit).
The tenth digit should be the letter "E" (1984)
The vehicle data label will tell you pretty much the rest.
Not sure where it's located on a '84.
My 81F150 is on the drivers side lock pillar post.
Maybe someone out there has the codes for a 84 F150.

I've had my 83 since it was new, and can honestly say these trucks have few inherant problems. Good maintenance will keep u out of trouble.
The heater blend door (mixes A/C with heated air) is a common Ford problem.
