High milage,,,,,,again?

Hi, just passin' through, and saw where a member posted about having a Ford Van with 400K miles, before it was totaled. (bummer)
Anyway.
I have been driving the same '81 HD F-250 4X4 'granny' 4 speed, since Oct of '85.
That's 20 years, and 513,000 miles. BTW, the heads have NEVER been off. Starting to run a little sour, and puke some oil.
Thanks. Have fun.

I have 155,000 mikes on my truck.

It's an 81, which is roughly 565 in dog years.

alumcanTandThd, that's alot of miles.

Actually, that's about average for a 20 year old truck at 25,650 miles per year.

I guess I should have 615,000 miles on mine.

Good going.

Thanks for the kind words!
Yeah, my annual milage, really had it's high and lows! If I remember right, my highest yearly treck, 45 something K, and the lowest, was 11K. (That was before the gas hit $2.00 a gallon. I doubt if I have accumlated 5K miles, in the past couple of years combined. Since the high gas prices, all I use the truck for, is to haul feed, firewood, and hay. 10mpg empty. ole 'lead crank' 400)
2K, to 3K, straight weight, oil/filter changes. Run straight 50W year round, now.
I saw a complete site dedicated to a '72 Impala, in AZ, that had 300 and some K miles, and was still going strong! I got 'that' beat all the way around!
So, I googled, 'high milage Fords' to see what would 'pop' up on the ole tube.
Other than the usual rederick of the newer 60mpg etc, etc. There was this site, and a guy/web site, wanting signatures of owners with high milage Ford vehicle(s) to sign his/a petition, with the milage info, and, he was wanting to send it up to FMC for advertisment purposes.
I simply wrote to him, and mentioned he was seriously wasting his time. FMC don't give a good diddly squat about customers who keep Ford vehicles for extended periods of time! I have written proof!
At 300K and 400K, I mailed proof of my milage to FMC.
At 300K, I got a phone call from ,,,,, (?) a 'bean counter.' All he wanted to know was, what parts I used. That's it. Nothing else.
I also, went to the orginal selling dealer, in Pt. Mairon, PA, showed 'him' my proof. Y'know what he did/said? He looked me square in the eyes, and said, "That's nuttin." "All that proves, is that you change your oil and filter." Turned his back, and walked away.
My wife and I looked at each other in disbelief, stood there for a few moments in silence, and then left. (high speed saleman, did come up and ask, if he could be of help in choosing the 'right' vehicle for us)
At 400K, I sent another letter with proof, to FMC. THIS time, I got a neat 3 month old calander, a key ring, (empty) a pen, and a letter stating; Congratulations on getting that kind of service out of Ford product. Quality, is job one at Ford, and that I should have been in the market to buy a NEW Ford truck along time ago.
They also suggested I get ahold of a outfit up on Woodward Ave, that stated ,they do the advertisment for FMC, and, they had a 'high milage club' if, I send them $$, my truck would be in a advertisment. Oh, BTW. 3 Ford dealers, NEVER heard of this outfit.
I worte them back, sending them a copy of the (400K) letter from FMC, and asked the question. What makes them think, 'they' would put me/truck in advertisment for FMC, when there is written proof, that FMC doesn't want older Ford vehicles known? Last I heard from, who ever that scam artist is/was.
Anyway.
I did what the bikers did, during the AMF years, by protesting, turning the H-D upside down.
I changed the tailgate letters "O" to a "U" and the "D" to a "Y" to spell "F-U-R-Y" ( confusing to me, when standing there, absent mindely, at the U-fill 'em up place, when the counter jocky, sez, "Pump # such and such, is on, for the Fury." I start looking around for an old Plymouth LOL) I also turned the hood letters upside down. (two, have fallen off, so that doen't make sence, any more) Oh well.
Any other high milage Fords out there, you guys know of?

I know of a guy who documented 425,000 miles on a 300 I-6. He put that engine in 3 different truck bodies. Wrecked everyone of 'em. He ran 30 weight virgin motor oil out of the service station, and refused to replace the valve cover gasket. It finally slung a rod, and he replaced it with a 390 before wrecking that last truck, and then just gave up and bought a newer truck, a one ton I believe. That ole 300 was a good one, though.....

By the way, I get a little magazine from Ford from time to time, and they had a feature in it once on high mileage, older model trucks........

FMC actually had a book(let) that listed owner's high milage?
If you say so. I guess, I gotta' believe you.
But, whith the way I was treated at the dealer, and what FMC wrote in their letter to me, sure doesn't,,,,,,,,, coincide with what you have read/said.(?)
What is the name of this book(let)?

513K on a truck? thats pretty good. I can only wish to get that many miles from my trucks. now I got good reason to keep my Fseries trucks longer than to see 250k roll over the odometer.
