air/vacuum leak
Well for about the past month this has bothered me a great deal. My truck seems to have either an exhaust leak, or a vacuum leak. it is a constant leak, and doesn't really sound like an exhaust leak. it is pretty constant and is very noticable when at idle. It seems louder when cold, and sounds more like air escaping instead of sucking. my question is has this happen to anyone else, and what was the problem. The sound is coming from the drivers side, probably between the engine and firewall. I used to have a smoker that would help to detect it, but I can't seem to find it. Just thought I would ask before I took it in to the dealer. Thanks so much for any response.

what do you mean by spongy? the truck does have some turbo lag, but there doesn't seem to be too much play in the throttle. I did suspect the exhaust manifold, but most exhaust leaks have a spitter spatter sound instead of a constant monotone sound. I could be wrong though. thanks for the input.

It is interesting - the "spongy" throttle response is turbo lag (and ultimately a reduction in performance).
Honestly I really don't know without being there - I think it would be best if the dealer could diagnose it.
