I was sandblasing the frame of my truck today and found a problem, I have a hole on the driver side floorboard of my truck, i was wondering if i could just weld a piece of sheet metal over top of it or something like that. Its kinda weird cause the truck aint got a hole one on the body, but it does down there. and that is the only hole in the floorboard, thats why i just thought about putting a thing of sheet metal over it. Do u guys have any other suggestions on what to do.
I just did some floor patching last night. However, I used a 16" by 28" piece of sheet metal. The hole wasn't much smaller. You can pop-rivit it on like I did, but I would put some kind of sealer on it. Something to stop the rust from getting worse would be good too.
76,
I had many, many holes in my floor board and I fixed them all for about 10 years in a few hours. Fiberglass! Grind out the rust, put down some phosphoric acid, Naval Jelly, OSPHO, whatever, and fiberglass that bad boy shut. Make sure it's warm enough outside to cure it. Put some carpets over it and forget about it!
