How will I recognize it? I was going to get a Banks PowerPack but decided to go with a new y-pipe and see how that works first. It seems like guys are happy with this mod.
I have read a few posts about guys having 'flutter' after changing their y-pipes and I started wondering: 1. Is it an automatic, you get it when you change the y-pipe? 2. Is it loud and/or annoying? 3. Is it harmful? 4. Does it flutter all the time or just under certain circumstances/rpms?
I have the banks powerpack and have had it since July of 2004. Just in the past month or two, I have started to hear the "flutter" right at the magic 1750-1950 rpm range. It sounds like a growly sound. I cant imagine it hurting anything. Mostly I believe it is harmonic vibrations at that certain RPM range.
Depends on what "flutter" you're talking about - the most popular flutter is the inspection cover on the bell housing with automatics.
There was supposedly an exhaust harmonic that the funky y-pipe took care of, but there's plenty of people who've removed it and have no strange exhaust harmonics.
