Tach reading ~600 RPM's higher than normal??

Tach reading ~600 RPM's higher than normal??
Just noticed on my way home that my tach was reading ~600 RPM's higher than normal for highway speeds. At first I thought it wasn't switching into overdrive and then realized that the tach was just reading wrong. Stopped the truck, turned off, restarted and then realized that at normal idle it was still reading this higher number. Turned off and realized that the needle didn't settle down to zero like normal, but stopped at 600 or so.
Anyone have any thoughts or have this happen to them?

It's under warranty... but I don't want to have one of those stickers on the door that says the instrument cluster was replaced and you need to add this number to the mileage to get the real number...
But oh well... I guess I'll have to do it... I just wanted to know if it happened to anyone else....
