Putt, It's nice to know there are still places like that. Around here, they would tear your truck up to steal a box like that just because they saw it. You might want to paint it black so the red wont shine out of the grill.
When you have lived in the city and have been stolen from as many times as I have, things like that stand out.
Putt, tell me about your dash insert, I posted a few days ago because I saw yours and couldn't remember where I saw it. I have a 66 almost down to the cab only, and I'm trying to research all the goodies I want, especially before Christmas.

The insert I made out of an aluminum plate after cutting the original gauges and panel out(sorry guys) . I left a slight lip around the perimeter to screw the plate to. It has a slight curve, but not enough to require a bend just some gentle forming. The gauges are Autometer Classic series 2 1/16", both electric(ammeter, tachometer, voltmeter, and fuel) and mechanical(oil pressure, oil temperature, water temperature and speedometer).
There are a couple pictures in my gallery of the dash and overhead panel.
Icicle, I was able to get the fuel cell mounting and fuel line routing sorted out Sunday. I had to use a shop's tube flaring tool to make my connections, I got that done on Tuesday, so I am now ready to install all that and try to start it...
After I prelube the engine, check all the electrical wiring, fill it with antifreeze, and whatever else I might have missed!!!
RATS! The weather is not cooperating with me at all. We have had 8" of snow in the last 2 days, my truck now looks like a big, snowy lump! I hope to be able to shovel it clear later today or over the weekend.
your excitement is contagious, i can't wait to get my project back from garage so i can put in my dig. guage cluster i am making, swap seats, install seat belts, swap out switches, etc. etc. you know putt "i'm just gonna do this" and next thing you know the bed is on sawhorses or something haha
