Vin Question

Does anyone know of any resource for decoding a 1967-1970 F-250 vin?

The vin is F25YRE12502. I got the truck recently but all that is left is the frame, axles, driveline and bed which made it really fun to find the vin. If I can figure out what it had originally, I hope to restore it to "new" condition.

do you mean there is no cab? if that is the case you will probably have to title the truck with the vin of the cab you put on the truck when you put it back together.

I would think with the front clip off finding the vin would be much easier. You are gonna have to buy at least one more truck to get the cab and front clip so you have time to do some real planing before jumping into the project. IMHO

The chassis rail vin is the goto number should a problem arrise.

Thanks for the information. It's definately a long term project, but my goal is to build it back to what it had originally. The intersting thing about it is that it has an 8ft stepside bed (had to measure it twice just to be sure). I do have other miscellaneous parts for it such as the hood, fenders (the hood and fenders were the only way that I could date the truck till now), and remains of the front end, but I will probably try to find another truck at an auto wrecker for the rest.

The "Y" in the vin. number is a 352 in the 1967 only!
After that, (70-72) the "Y" is a 360!
In your case the consecutive unit number/series (final 6 digits) comes back as a 1969 F250.

F25 = F250 / 2WD

Y = 360 cid

R = San Jose, California

E12502 = April 1969

Ahh, I originally thought it was a 68 or 69. I don't remember why I thought that though. San Jose must have been an assembly plant for western vehicles in general, as I also have a '73 F-250 and a '66 F-100 both built in San Jose.
