New muffler
I am having a new muffler installed next week and the guy installing it suggests putting it in shortly behind the Y and then dick tipping it. He plans on going 3" in and a short 3" out. I have a 2002 F-150 SCrew w/ a 4.6L. Does this sound like something that will work fine?

put the muffler back so that the outlet stops just before your rear tire and then 'dick' tip it . that will get all of the exhaust away from the cab so you will be able to open your windows in the summer and it will also reduce the noise in the cab so you will be able to hear your radio. make sure the hangers have rubber connectors in them to reduce the vibration , my 2c's, bob

I agree with Bob, but with the exception of having as much pipe as possible after the muffler. It will mellow the exhaust note and usually sound better. I cant believe your installer wants to do such a half-baked system behind such a nice truck.
