fuel pump issue
91' ranger 2.3 liter, well its been a long day iv been stumped on my ranger. this morning it just died, so i checked everything out and figured i wasnt getting fuel. i took the line off before the fuel filter and when i turned the key on and turned the engine over i was getting no fuel. so i thought thats my fuel pump i couldn't hear it kick in so i thought i had solved my problem so i took the gas tank off and took the fuel pump out and just to make sure i wasnt going to buy a new pump for nothing hooked a jumper wire to the pump and it works great. i check the electrical connection and i wasnt getting any voltage on the hot wire to the pump iv been checking the wires down to it but put it up for tonight all the fuse are okay is there a chance it could be my fuel pump relay thanks for everything any thing would be apperciatedmike

It could also be the relay. It could also be the wiring to the relay. I once replaced a fuel pump and a relay before finding a simple wiring problem.

It's been a long time since I looked uner the hood of a Ranger of that era. I'm not exactly sure where it is. Location will be apparent if you hear the click though.
Passenger side, top of the footwell, under the carpet. Little black box with a red button on top, see if the button is popped out.
