Question Overheating.....

I have a 2.9L 89 Bronco 2. Just in the past few days my heater started not to work. Someone suggested to me that it could be you don't have water in it. So I fill it up with water and it works....only for about 20 min. There is no leaks from water under the car after I fill it up and keep it running. Another thing that is odd is that the water in the resevior is boiling now. It boils from only about 30min use of the truck. I find that kind of strange because the truck is only running slightly above what it normally runs. If anyone can help me solve this it would be greatly appreciated. Also, if I let something out lemme know.

Thanks,
Billy

It could be several things like the thermostat, water pump, or a head gasket. It may very well be the head gasket since you don't have anything leaking.

Is the coolant level dropping in the engine/radiator or is it getting pushed out into the overflow tank?

Ok, I figured it out. Its the darn head gasket. The resevior for the radiator has oil and fuel in it. It is also burning the water. The exhaust is blowing out white smoke which pretty much spells it all out. =(

I would suspect a cracked head, bad head gaskets are not that common. Also if you have been driving it the bearings are probably bad. If you have gas in the oil/coolant you probably have a bad fuel pressure regulator too.
