I have a 78 ford F-250 4wd with a 4 speed transmission. It came stock with a 300-6 and now has a 351 W. Dont know what mods were done to do this but what other engines would bolt up to my bell housing? How's about a 390?
I have a 78 f250 4x4 as well. Mine too came with a 300 with an NP435 manual trans, but now has a 351w just like yours. The bell housing will work with a 300, 289, 302, 351w, and 351c just like the other guy said. To put a 390 in you'll need a bellhousing from an FE block motor, such as the 360, 390, 427, and 428. The 429 will NOT work, its the same as a 460. You've got a good set up, i say leave it alone. GOOD LUCK!!!!!
