Everyone, I'd like to notify everyone that Dale Earnhardt Sr. has died today in the hospital after his head on collison with the daytona international speedways fourth turn. Now I did personally did not like the man because i met him and was not nice to me, but I did respect him. And I think that everyone should give a moment of silence and pray for the Earnhardt family. He truly was a nascar living legend, love him or hate him, you must have respected him. So God Bless you Dale Earnhardt! And lets all pray for the Earnhardt family.
Nick
"Speed equals money how fast do you want to go?"
Horsepower tv guy the fat one.
I also met Dale Earnhardt, at Texas Motor Speedway last year. He wasnt nice to me either. I guess that was just Dale. I professed to not like him after that, but now I have tears in my beer. I always respected his ballsiness. The man would trade paint at the drop of a hat at 180 mph. How can you not respect that? We have suffered a great loss today. The family and friends are in my prayers. I am gonna go get drunk now. Rest in Peace, Dale
I'm also a non-Earnhart fan but any time a Nascar driver is killed in a racing accident whether they drive a Ford,Chevy,Or Pontiac, whether I like 'em or not my heart just sinks in my chest with sorrow when I hear of there death. I just can't imagine the pain the Earnhart family is going through right now.
If you are a Nascar fan, an Earnhart fan or not, take a moment to say a silent player for Dale's Family.
I was glad I watched the race today I Admired him and collected items with his name. It has hurt me to know it was the last race he will be in. I never met him
He died doing what he loved ...Many others will not!
Thanks to all that did not like him in racing...It made him try harder and please others..
As Said today.. "The Greatest Driver Ever"

I am still in shock over todays events. It is always tough to see a death in professional motorsports, but when that death is a legend it makes it that much harder to deal with. My thoughts and prayers are with the Earnhardt family and crew.

"His loss will have an effect on racing and his fans worldwide. I'm not sure you can measure the impact of what he meant to racing in this country because when you picture the epitome of a race car driver, you picture Dale Earnhardt." said Ford Racing Technology director Dan Davis.
Love him or hate him well, I hated him on the track. I never met the man but even though I hated him (for his driving style) he was good and it is a great loss to the sport he caused more than one accident with his agressive style. I always said he was to good a driver to have to drive that way,I guess that was what brought the fans in. he has an impeccable record in motor sports racing and that record will stand for a lot of years if it is ever broken. I really feel for the family, and fans of Dale Ernhardt. They call Richard Petty the king of stock cars I personally think Dale was better I have been watching races since I was about 7 years old and dale wasdefinately one of the elite members. I am very sorry for his family, I watched the scenes of Davey Allisons family when he died. And I wouldn't or couldn't wish that on my worst enemy and certainly not on Dale Earnhardt or his family. (still rooting for 28)
John: Allison had a ton of fans and he still is highly regarded (and rightly so). IF they have a public funeral for Dale it may surpass Elvis in size and numbers. Lord knows that Dale wouldn't have wanted that but he sure could drive a race car as shown in his final laps. If anybody would've passed away today I would've thought it was Tony Stewart. Watching the in car camera when he dropped his hands and lowered his head....I thought he was done (sometimes I don't want to see the in car camara).
I still cannot believe the Intimidator has found a better race.
It is hard to believe, with all the wrecks those guys have, some of them like rusty wallace rolling the entire front straight and haveing nothing but a cage left. Dale when he went upside down and got hit in the windshield Bill Elliott upside down the long way even Ernie Irvan hitting the wall head on in a turn. It didn't look like that hard of a hit he had to have scrubbed off some speed by hitting the other car first. I guess they just need another great racer for the DAYTONA IN THE SKY It really is sad that someone of that magnitude has to go the way he did the only good part (if you can call it that) is he died doing what he loved to do. I hope I'm that lucky, and according to reports he died instantly so he didn't suffer at all.
John
Maybe Bill France will cut the end walls down off that stupid track, and stop running like a pack of hounds chasing a fox. Better yet Bruton Smith, France, and others should declair that "If your helmet isn't tethered you don't drive here today boy."
I don't care for the 3 or the man in black, but a 12 yr old lost her daddy, a wife her husband, a new baby girl her grandfather.
Four drivers have died since my birthday last year, including a kid that had only smelled life, that most likely could have lived had their heads been restrained.

Here is what I have read that Nascar has made some new mods to the cars in airodynamics and in restrictor plates. These modifications were designed to make the cars run more in a pack and not all spread out. So to speak even the field out. Honestly its a bad thing. More cars in reck basically is what it will come down to. More action yes. But more dangerous. Think about 19 cars all running at 180 mph less than 3 feet apart from each other. Not a good combo in my book.

LAST EDITED ON 19-Feb-01 AT 04:22 PM (EST)[p]When most people think of a person in Nascar, they thought of Dale Earnhardt. I think his death will attract more people to this sport. I don't consider myself the best fan of nascar, but I do try to keep up with events.
I think they ought to retire his number forever.
Nine drivers have died in the last 10 years. I do believe it's time for a rules change!
