Well the infamous Bugatti Veyron is now released
Its the first manufactured road car to have greater than 1000hp. It also holds the title as the worlds quickest road car.
The drive reports I have read have said it is darn impressive. The first vehicle to seriously contend the McLaren F1's previously held title as the greatest supercar.
Some of the interesting technical details:
At its electronically limited top speed it consumes fuel at the rate of 2.3mpg... Giving it a range of 51miles (12minutes) from 22gallons.
It is capable of stopping from 250mph in 9.8seconds.
The McLaren F1 (officially the worlds quickest road going production car up until March this year) could have a 100mph flying start, and a stationary Bugatti would still beat it to 200mph.
The thing is nothing short of surreal in my opinion, and a fitting vehicle to both "crown" VW Group and carry on one of the great automobile name plates in Bugatti.
All I know is that I am willing to auction off my first born for a drive (joking)
And yet, after all that, it's -still- built by VW, has a cobbled together engine made from three 15º vr6 blocks around a common crank, and costs over $1.2 million. I wonder how the fit and finish measures up to Ferarri, Porsche, and the other established brands. I just see this car as VW dragging another name through the mud. They've done it with their "redesign" of the Lamborghini brand, made Bently into this post-modern "thing" it was never intended to be, and even destroyed the VW name in and of itself with poor quality and lackluster service. They are the only company I know of in modern automotive history to drop a ten year warranty. I have to wonder what kind of reliability and long term reliability this car will have, compared to established supercars.

Who cares? The numbers don't lie, it is now the king of the supercars. As far as reliability, Bugatti once said when a customer complained about his cars being cold natured, "If you can afford my car, you can afford a heated garage". I think he might say the same thing about maintenance.
