Since you brought up the subject of block heaters, how do I tell if my 01 SD 7.3 has one? There is no tell-tell pigtail hanging out of the front grille. I bought it used; were block heaters standard or options? Thanks.
If you are facing the truck, look at the tow hook on the right. It is in the opening where the tow hook comes out. It should have a plug cover on it.
My uncle always told me you should never run the motor when it is plugged in because the tiny air bubbles in the cooling system stick to the heater and cause it to overheat and burn pin holes. Not sure if this happens all the time but it makes sense. Just my .02
Wonder if this happens on my home electric water heater when it's being feed fresh cold water.
