I had the same problem with the plug end hitting the fins before i found the damage
I had to zip tide it to the bumber, I also had to changed the plug end, so i put a
industrial grade plug end on, It gives you more to hold on to when plugging and unpluggng

!!! it's just an electrical cable with a special plug connecting to the engine block heater element. Just pulls right out of the block...nice and easy.
