Spark Plugs??

Spark Plugs??
I have a '03 5.4 with about 58,000 miles on it. The mechanic at the Ford dealership told me that the factory plugs should be good for 100,000 miles. To me that sounds like a lot of miles on the orignal set of plugs. Is this true or was he full of it?

the fac plugs is platnum good for 100,000 but we recomend 80,000 and it pays somewhere around 3.5 hours at my dealership i work at. also use platnum motorcrafts the ford modular engines don't like any thing else to good.
