Does anyone know the differences between a highboy frame/body and a regular F-150/250? I found the rear cab mounts are in a different place and the frame is straight from the cab back and the regular trucks the frame gets wider after the cab. It also looks like the bed rails underneath are different heights because the frame doesnt have as much of a hump in it. I was also wondering if a 67-72 bed would bolt right on a highboy, because the 67-72 frames are straight from the cab back, and the front frame rails are the same. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
The only differences that i know of in the highboy VS the others in 73-79 is that a highboy will have an in cab gas tank and the rear cab mount holes are further apart due to the mounting being on the outside of the frame. On others then the highboy the mounting is on a cross member. A 67-72 bed will bolt on a highboy frame. All the parts are interechangable, but a very small amount of drilling is required. I have done a few swaps so ask us anymore questions you may have.
Ford 429cu is right except for one thing My High boy had no in cab tank originaly. I bought the truck from the original owner, so I know the cab wasn't swapped until i did it. the problem is that they don't make replacement rear tanks for them.
