hi
I'm wanting to put a over drive transmission in my 78 4x4 behind the 460 and to the np205, is there a transmission to do that and what modifcation would i have to make?
thanks for your time!
Dont have a clue but would love to have one as well. I removed an Over/underdrive box from an old 1 ton chevy. It looked like a transfer case had shifter, etc. Brownlite Manufacturing built it.Was simple gearing inside to give you over&under drive. I was told these have been obsolete since the '60s. We couldnt find parts[we got lots of blank stares] and I have since lost track of the thing. But it was neat idea. Had u-joint input & output dont know how you could use on 4x4 unless it was a hiboy.
Another idea is to try the Gear Vendors over-underdrive behind the transfer case. This way you can use the original C-6 or if you want, the manual transmission. I think the cost is around $2,500. If I remember right the only major thing you have to do is shorten the rear driveline. It can only be used in two wheel drive since it bolts on to the back of the transfer case.
