hi all, hav`nt been here in a while.
got a block heater question 4 ya,
i have installed a brand new 5.0 in my truck and opted to not put a frost plug style block heater in it but instead an inline heater. this is the 1 that leads from the intake to the heater core hose (older style). i was recently told that on some vehicles have a power shutoff valve to stop the flow of antifreeze when the key is off. is this true for my truck? and would this inline heater be useless?
thanx

I'm not too sure if your year has the shut-off or not. An easy way to check would be to plug the heater in while the engine is cold (and off). Check the heater hoses after a while, if they are both warm you should be ok.
Not familar with these heaters but the heat should transfer through the valve. If the coolant is on either side of the valve and the engine is not pumping the fluid anywhere.
