I have a tough one - my 99 Navigator has an engine miss and my mechanic thinks it is being caused by moisture getting under the cover and on the coil/plug area. He has replaced the cover gasket and sealed all around it, but the moisture (and the miss) keep on recurring. It usually only misses under a light load.
Well - this just in....I had it in for the 5th time today and still there is water in and around the boot (definately not coolant). Mechanic says it is really sealed up well and he replaced the cover gasket yesterday as well, so now the thinking is maybe there is a crack in the cover.
have you found anything yet. i have tyne same issue on my 99 expo. just replaced all cops. noticed some antifreeze around the boots. thought maybe it was from unhooking the heater hoses. still have the misfire under small load. i know it feels like a plug not firing. put my scan tool on it and run the live data i notice that the idle doesn't look right like it is trying to find the right speed to run. i think maybe the intake is leaking but i don't really want to go there. any other ideas. i am also using oil. maybe the intake is my problem?. i have 190,000 and i got a misfire fire code on #2 cylinder why i put on new cops.
