Oil Cooler

I am putting in a 98 Explorer short block. It is going into a 83 Bronco. This motor has the oil cooler. Can I change the stud mount for the cooler to just mount a filter? Where can I get the part and how does it mount? Press or screw?

Thanks

As far as I know they were all screw-in, but some of the later ones didn't have a hex base to put a wrench on. But I'd hate to see you stick a pipe wrench on there and bugger it up only to find out I was wrong, so hopefully someone with the answer will chime in.

Do you need to change it? The earlier Mustang 5.0 cooler adapters just screwed onto the standard block filter adapter. Is the Explorer cooler adapter different? Or why not run the cooler?

I got it off this morning. You were correct that it screws in. I just need to get the adapter to go directly to the oil filter. I was going to use the cooler but it hits the cross member.

Thanks
Dave
