I have a '79 F-250 4x4 with the original 300 I6, NP435, and NP205. I want to drop in a fuel injected 351 out of a 2wd '90 F-250. I've heard or read that the motor should bolt up to the tranny but I'm not sure. If not or if it's cheaper I might use the C6 out of the '90 and get a different tailshaft for the t-case. I should also be able to use the wiring from the '90 F-250. I'm not sure about the motor mounts either. Any info submitted would be greatly appreciated as i have no idea where to start with this conversion. So far all major companies I've talked to don't handle this kind of swap. Thanks
Jeff, Companies don't take on that task only FTEs. You can cross lines with emissions standards and they don't want the liability.
Yes the 351W will bolt to the existing bell, but not the engine perches. 302/351W perches are easy to come by though, so finding a pair should be easy.
If you get an EFI, you need to get the wiring and computer that goes with it. Will it be cheaper to operate, no but it will have more power.
Happy swapping.

Go for it man. Don"t let anybody tell you no. I plan on changeing my truck over to a Power Stroke one day. I am still kicking my self for not buying a wrecked 1996 F250 Power Stroke 4X4 2 years ago, it had everything I needed and still run and it only had 40,000 miles on it.
