Question Newbie Needs Help with manuals

I just bought a 1992 F-150 Nite. Anyone out there know where I can get a cheap owner's manual? Also, this is my first truck, any tips on keeping my high mileage truck running smoothly? Thanks for any input. Val

owner manual sources

You might try e-bay for a manual. I have obtained several manuals - owners & shop sets - for different models from them. Prices sometimes get a little crazy so check www.helminc.com first to see what the new price is: Then you have a basis for comparison.

And, take good care of that Nite - it is a classic!

Thanks so much for the info. eBay only has "buy it nows "for $25.00. I was just looking for an inexpensive vehicle, lost my job due to illness and lost my new Grand Am GT. I don't know much about cars or trucks but I thought it was a real deal at $1,000. 1st Truck and I love it. Pretty cool for a middle aged gal.

Welcome to FTE.
$25.00 seems a little high as I have been giving about $12.00 for them on ebay.

If you need any information about your truck just ask and someone will help you.

As far as keeping the truck running smoothly it depends on a lot of things like the condition of the truck, how long sense the fluids have been changed, kind of transmission and what you are using it for. Changing all of the Filters and the motor oil is a good place to start.

i sent you an email. sounds like you got a good deal, but just for the record owning one of these trucks is not always that cheap. what kind of shape? do you have much rust underneath, i see you are in michigan. check those rear shackles to see if they are rusted/broken yet.

Yes I have lots of rust on wheel wells and bumper. I'll have my car guy check out the shackles (I don't even know what a shackle is). Thanks, everyone in this group has been really nice and helpful!

Check with the local car dealers. Ask where they prep thier used cars. The clean up guys just DUMP EVERYTHING from the glove box and usually have about any manual you want.
