well i hate to tell you this but i think for about 10 bucks un E-bay you can get a headlight harness upgrade for your truck that includes the socket. I thought about buy one but i have been 120 highs and 90 lows on my 87 ranger with projector with no problem at all. the only problem i do have is with on comming traffic (thats my low beems darnet!!!!! Stop flashing your lights!!!!!) though its best to got to summit and get Hella made bulbs that are truely the higher wattage. YOU might pay 80 for piaas but they all only a slight brighter then 60/55. Also clear bulbs will allway register a brighter light then blue, purple, yellow, and deffently green, But it doesn't mean they will look as cool

Check out my gallery. It's new, there's not very many pictures, but you can see my new headlights.

Today I noticed that the 97 bodystyle did indeed have a different grille on the 4x4 than the 4x2. It does have two extra vertical bars. I am the one who stands corrected.

Ok, here's the odd thing. The last two days I've looked a lot at these trucks and I haven't seen another 4x4 in the bodystyle of mine (93 to 97) that has the double vertical bars. I've looked at dozens of them. I'm not sure that what I saw the other day was a 93-97 truck.

Anyone who can add any info on this?

my ranger has a chrome grille along with chrome bumpers. some models during these years in the 4x4 stlye also had painted grilles to match the bumpers and the body. my 4x2 has a greyish painted grille that matches the bumpers but other models had chrome to match the bumpers. correct me if i'm wrong but your year ranger only had the grey grilles and bumpers no matter what the color of the body it was or if it were a 4x2 or a 4x4. i think the biggest difference between the two were the round fog lights. not to be funny but are you sure its a '93-'97? and vertical meaning up and down?

I'm not sure about much lately. :-) I can tell you my truck is a 1997. I have an XLT, which means I have chrome bumpers front and back. As to the grille, the "chrome" grille of the XLT is only chrome across the top and is a grey-metalic elsewhere. I have seen on ebay that some are selling all chrome grilles. I may be wrong about seeing a 93-97 with vertical bars, but I was pretty sure about it at the time. I'm doubting it more and more though since I haven't seen one since.

Here's a pic of the front of my truck if that helps:

I have euro headlights/clear corners. I like them both, then again my truck is Ice Blue and accented by chrome so it really matches everything else. Pics in the gallery if you wanna take a look.

I do think anything looks a lot better than the stock ones.

As for them being thin and cracking easily, I've had no problems, mine look pretty thick to me.

i'm sure we're both making a bigger deal about this than we should but what the heck. nice truck by the way! if i had a picture of mine it would probably make things easier. the front end of yours and mine are completely different and i believe your ranger is the same for all those years and trim packages excluding the sxt? i think thats what its called. the next model year, i guess it was '98, was totally changed and only the 4x4 had the vertical bars. i think there are some galleries on here you can look at and see the difference.

'93-'97 is very similar. Things such as headlights, grilles, fenders, hoods, all fit that bracket.
Trust me, I had to buy the parts. :-P

You're right, it's not a big deal. I guess I must have seen a generation newer than mine. That explains my confusion.

Thanks for the complement about the truck. I can't take a ton of credit because that picture was just after I bought the truck. I had cleaned it up some, but it's really straight and rust free.

You can see that I have a great platform to work from. I have never modded any vehicle I've had, and now that I'm an old man of 31, :-) there's a limit to the mods I like or would do. I mostly want to keep it looking good and running well. A few upgrades will make it as nice a vehicle as I've ever had.

Just remember, whatever you do, make it fit your taste. Headlights and clear corners, that's a show sorta thing to me. That's the whole reason I did it. You might go for more interior stuff and customization.
