After 4 replaced turbos, several replaced sensors and valves, repeated turbo over- and under-boost, puking coolant, lies and unfounded accusations by dealers and regional service rep., denials by DSB and Ohio lemon law, 80+ days in the shop, F@rd finally admits that the turbo is sticking and causing over-boost causing blown head gaskets. They're coming out with a grooved turbo actuator ring to minimize sticking. (Still a band-aid fix- what's causing the sticking in the first place?) I doubt that it will be here before my lawyer's remedy. GMC 5500, here I come!
Isn't GM laying off 30,000 employees? I was watching the financial news and some of the investor guests thought this was the beginning of the end for GM.
Still...I COMPLETELY understand your switching to another brand. I may have to do that here pretty soon too. I'm about to plunge into the fight myself.
Good luck
It really stinks about your bad experience but unfortunately that happens. I have a coworker that is going through a lot of significant problems with his 04 Duramax lately, so it can and does happen to a percentage of them all (I won't even go into the problems I had with my old Dodge/Cummins)
Please don't abandon the PSD because you got a bad one. I know, I know ... But Drudges have their share of problems too. Hang in and go for a buyback. And know I feel your pain!
yes i agree. do not give up on ford because you have one bad truck. i suggest going to a gas model, or a older, proven 7.3 diesel. yes, the 7.3 had its teething problems when they released it in 1995. we should know, we have a 1995 PSD, and it sucks. but, after an overhaul, i am slowly getting it back the way it should. since that 1995, we have had two flawless V-10s, and a F-550 with 6.0. it too has been nothing but problems. we still do not shy away from ford, i bought myself a 2002 7.3 as my first truck, and i will never own a gasser. my dad plans on buying yet another ford superduty for a snowplow/work truck for me, as mine is too big. see how we do not give up on the best?
eric, my neighbor has a 2005 Chevrolet with the Duramax diesel. He has about 10K miles on the truck and it is using 1 quart of oil every 500 miles. The Chevy dealer told him that this is normal and will not be fixed. 2 Chevys at the company, where he works, have the same problem. Does this mean that all GM trucks are bad? No. Likewise, not all Ford trucks are bad either. Both manufacturers have plenty more good trucks running around than bad ones.
