03 Navigator Reverse Thud???

03 Navigator Reverse Thud???
I noticed tonight on my wifes Nav that when you go into reverse there is a semi-loud thud. All other gears are silky smooth going into them. Also it seems like reverse doesnt engage right away and the vehicle studders trying to back up? Any idea what could be causing this or is it normal? Only bought the truck a couple weeks ago and I dont drive it very often, so it could have been there the entire time.

from park to reverse or drive to reverse. No it does not do it from nutral and I guess it would be more of a clunk...Normal? and is it normal to take a second or two to engage?
