There isn't any aftermarket company that makes them?
I havent heard of any aftermarket company that handles skid plates for Ford F trucks.
Try the website--www.car-part.com . I checked the site and it doesnt list a skid plate category--but it gives a list of savage yards in your state or city and it is easy to email an inquiry to each one of the yards .
When in the bone yard--keep an eye open for F trucks with the 4x4 or/and OFFROAD decal on the side of the truck--they are more likely to have the factory skids installed on them. The factory skids were part of the factory offroad package in many years. The factory skid plate really protects the transfercase.
I live in a state where 95 percent of the pickups are 4x4s and even then--I have seen only half a dozen Ford pickups wiith the skids plates on them. A rare factory option it seems--but since there were 900,000 of these pickups made each year--you should be able to locate them--if you start emailing and checking out the bone yards.

I got mine off a Bronco in a junkyard for $40. No aftermarket price is going to beat that. I was surprised my '89 4x4 shortbed didn't come with one from the factory too.
Yeah, boneyard is the only place you are gonna find one, unless you make it yourself. TRUST ME, I KNOW! There weren't any aftermarket pieces, so I fabed one up. My buddy liked it so much, he copied my design and we made him one. Lol!
