Ford didn't make them for logging companies... they were put together by aftermarket companies like Centurion.

Ah, ok, I know the logging companies had them made up anyway, either by ford or an aftermarket company depending on when etc.... I've seen pre 1967 trucks with four doors growing up here a lot. Mostly 1961 to 1966 and up. Siller Brothers has a few 1973 to 1979 still in operation as well. 4x4's as well.

I saw an old Siller Brother 1967 Crew Cab with four doors and all had the suicide handles and skewer your gizzard heater pull *****. Pretty cool, but I would think parts would be a pain.

Everywhere I've seen info about the Crew Cabs, ford didn't make them for general public until 1969. When did Ford start making them for fleet?

As for the railroad... Been reading on the pre 61's forum, and they were special orders, some were made by Ford and as you say by specialty companies, but now wonder how acurate that is.

Thanks for the info.

F-350 Crewcab long bed 2-wheel drive..... Heck, I have two of them and I've been trying to get rid of one for a while now and it is not in bad shape at all and is pretty much in driving condition. You all talk like everybody wants one and nobody can find them but I have had a hell of a time trying to get rid of this thing. Send me a PM if you have questions. I don't want to start talking on here about it because it is not O.K. to sell things in the posts. I have already placed an add on here, craigs list in my area and e-bay and found nothing but flakes all the way so far. ( no offense to anyone here). Anyways, I believe the only crewcab long beds were all f-350's and they only made a 4-wheel drive version in 1979. I could be wrong on that 1979 part though. Mil1ion or Numberdummy would be the ones to ask, they know all the info about production runs.

1973/79 F250 Crew Cabs were short beds.

1973/79 F350 Crew Cabs were long beds.

The very first factory Ford F350 4X4 was made in 1979.

The first F350 4X4 460 with a manual transmission was made in 1983.

There were NO 360/390 engines installed after 1976 in any Ford product--PERIOD!!

If FTE user Jeepfreak got a build sheet from Ford that stated a 1977 F Series truck came with a 360 or 390...someone at Ford goofed.

1973/79 Crew Cabs were sold by Ford to anyone who wanted one. All the Crew Cabs were built in Ford assembly plants and were in all the sales literature.

AFAIK, Centurion built 4 door Bronco's and Econoline E350 pickups for use as 5th wheel trailer haulers. The Centurion Econoline E350's were Deluxe Chateau window van models and were cut away behind the 2nd seat, and a pickup bed installed.

Centurion and the crew cab question...Why would Centurion duplicate what Ford was already building? Centurion modified some Ford factory Crew Cabs, adding interesting features.

I was referencing Centurion, because there are many other companies out there that do conversions like them. Centurion does duplicate ford, mainly making custom applications for special needs customers. There is one around town that has a hydraulic swing arm in the rear seat of a Superduty for a wheelchair confined driver, he never has to get out of the chair, it looks totally normal, but Centurion built the whole cab.
