hedman 02 sensor

here it is in a nut shell i have an 85 EFI 5.0

i bought hedman headers for the 85-96 trucks but there is not place for a O2 Sensor. i was advised to buy a little screwy thingy and fab it into the collector...what are yalls oppinions on this?

and if i should do it, how should i do it. I thought it had to be roughly the same distance from the head as stock. is there something i can buy or other wise to help my situation out here.

i wanna keep the headers, but i dont want my truck to run like poo. let me know

Do you still have the O2 sensor?
It should have a thread on it - and I am not sure what size it will be for a 85-96.

If you can then find a nut (Fords usually are M18 x 1.5 - what that is in SAE I am not sure) that will fit the thread as your local hardware store - then drill a hole in your collector, and get someone who nows what they are doing with a MIG welder to weld the nut around your hole.
Then just screw in your O2 sensor to the nut.

Normally you find a nut with the same thread count as the o2 sensor, drill a hole slightly larger than the sensor and tack the nut on, then alternate sides as you complete the weld for heat dispersion. Generally it goes either on or just after the collector.

I got the welder if you need Brent. Bring it by any time I'm home and we can make it happen.

Tater, I have an O2 sensor in my hedmans. I had a bung welded in on the collector, that the sensor screws into.

sweet, Ivan, ill have to swing buy with the header and a bung...hehe i said bung

and we will weld that beast up. BTW im not happy with jegs on this. They sent me a returned item that has been opened and the paint damage is horribly. More shine than paint id say. im going to have to strip them and re paint them....oh well i guess...paint dont make it go.

That's where you want to put it. It's not always a measure of exhaust gases, but depending on which sensor you have, if it is one wire, it needs heat to get proper readings. Too far away, the sensor is too cold, you'll get wrong readings....ask me how I know Just drill a hole, and weld the bung
