Frustrated!
I finally thought things were rolling along; however, just when it looks like smooth sailing, you get tipped over.
Since, I can't directly work on my truck (56) (several states away), I was having some cab work done. A few of the panels were shot so they were being replaced. I had also purchased a fiberglass cab top to replace the old rusted one (severe rust at the drip railings). You guessed it! The cab top will not sit right onto the cab.
I called Bobs F100 Ford Parts and they no longer sell cab tops. There 56 cab supply is getting down and they no longer cut cabs apart. Now I need to find a decent cab to get a donor top from.
By the way, except for the top, I have a pretty good cab. New metal on the cab corners, rocker panels and front cowl panels.
Where are you located? I can probably locate you a good 56 roof. That is a small problem in the big scheme of things. Now if you did not have a truck or even the cash to get one that could be depressing. Let me know. I gave Brian B. a lead on a 56 S/W here in TN that he towed home Friday back to Arkansas. I would say he is probably happy today as a result. Just let me know.
I have a hard enough time trying to put my truck together and its out in my garage not several states away. What a bummer.
How come you don't take your truck home?
Good luck with it
Bobby
I'm located in Virginia; however, the truck is in Missouri (about 70 miles NW of St Louis) at my dad's house.
I'm in the military and I had to move from IL to VA about 6 months ago and I don't have anyplace to store or work on the truck here.
I will be driving that way in the next couple of weeks to help my dad get the engine and transmission lined up in the frame. We were waiting on the cab to get done and then put it back on the frame.

Another Virginia F100 guy.

On your way home if you are traveling out I-40 toward Nashville. I know where a supposedly decent 56 Roof is. Just let me know I can get it and if you come thru Nashville meet you at one of the rest areas or truck stops around Nashville. Also there is gentleman named Lyle Daniels in East Central KY who sells used parts who may have a top. 606-546-9389 is his home number
Also my truck club, Music City F100's, has a club member who lives pretty close to St Louis in Wood River, IL. He may have a source as well for a good roof. Just let me know.
