I too have the Reflex shocks and not as happy as I should be. I liked Bilstiens and had them on a Suburban with good results. A little stiffer than the Reflex are now, but with a load rode great.
The Reflex I have now are ok around town but with a load ( Fishing tackle and 391 Ranger) they are overloaded I feel.
Have about 2500 miles on Edelbrock IAS on my 04 Limited. Great ride, much better on our crappy SE Pa. roads than stock and not harsh. Have heard that there are longevity issues with these, but will see. Haven't towed anything with them yet, but they hold the turnpike nicely at 80.
And Rancho 9000x's are very adjustable - I have them on my '01 V10 F250, and I can set them to anything I want - mushy or rock-hard, and everything in between.
Check out prices, and go for what you can afford.
ps: My Rancho's have only 20K miles on them or so, but probably 10 times the abuse of a normal person.
The adjustable Ranchos are nice, but more to break and who ever adjusts that often? My local truck shop said that their real purpose if for serios off-roaders that need a totally soft shock with 100% travel and no dampening. They sell more regular (non-adjustable Rabchos)... but he winked when I said I would buy Bilsteins (which he does not have).
I have 10,000 miles on my Bilsteins and so far so good.
According to their website they only go to model year 2001. Ask for someone in engineering as an '01 is the same vehicle as the '03. It took me 3 people to get to at Bilstein corporate and finally they admitted that engineering had updated their info, but not their website or C/S lists they work from.
00-01 HD(Setting) BE5-6206(Front) and BE5-6207(Rear)
The numbers above are from their website and for a 2WD Excursion with standard (non-lifted suspension).
Call eshocks.com and see what they say or recommend... this is where I bought mine from and shipping was free when I bought all 4 shocks.
I recently installed the Edelbrocks on my 04 Ex, also had them on my 00. eshocks (which is a shop in Mich w/ web site division) recommended either, but did not have Edelbrocks in stock. Have had on for 1,500 miles, all good.
May sound dumb, but I also like the bright red shock (edelbrock) that shows in front wheel well.
