The torque converter clutch (TCC) tries to engage during lockup. This makes the tranny shudder and can be cured by disconnecting the the TCC solenoid from the power train control module. This is just one wire. Does anyone know what color that wire is . I have a Ford 1993 F-150. The tranny # is FTUP-DC/PRA DA 11/0008T034/BD3616

or it can be cured instead of masked over by changing fluid, filter and draining torque convertor. then you will still have overdrive.

What he's saying is that if your torque converter is shuddering, you have a problem. Disconnecting the solenoid is not the right way to fix it. Fix the shudder by trying a fluid change. If that doesn't work, you need a new torque converter.

the last time i suggested a forum member to do this he thought the dealer had done a complete fluid change, i convinced him to do what i suggested to you and he was amazed that it cured it.

the dealer had not drained the convertor in his case.

a bottle of lucas trans treatment is also a good idea. try it, what do you have to lose.
